The Flakester

This is perhaps our most well known project, physician what becomes of an old Sportster when the FlakeKings get a hold of it. We built this bike for the organisers of the Kustom Kulture Forever event in Herten, Germany in 2013. The bike was raffled off there to one lucky ticketholder!

The Flakester started off as a 1977 Harley-Davidson XLCH, an ironhead Sportster. The frame was cleaned up and fitted with a handmade rear section and a seat upholstered by Marcel Miller Kustom Upholstery. Brand new Italian Borrani rims were laced in the stock rear drum hub and a fifties BSA front drum hub. The front wheel was adapted to fit in a later type Sportster fork, which was also shortened, shaved and polished. The 1000cc engine was completely overhauled by IronPit. A lot of custom tricks were performed to finish off the bike, like the narrowed oil tank, the stainless handlebars and much more. And last but not least we thank Jack from Royal Kustom Works for the deep gloss metalflake purple paintwork, in which he incorporated the Flakester lettering and AMF style striping in the Dutch colors.
